Kortical is a Carbon Neutral organisation!


Kortical is an energy efficient organisation and for those elements that we cannot control, like our serviced offices energy supplier or on the rare occasion where we need to fly to move our business forward we offset those emissions, investing 2 times what is required, to offset those carbon emissions to be a Carbon Neutral company.

TOTAL (tCO2e)
Scope 1 Zero - we do not own any buildings, plants or vehicles
Scope 2 Zero - we lease our offices, that include energy which is covered in Scope 3
Scope 3 We use carbon neutral suppliers where possible - Google Cloud for compute, Hubspot, Xero, Github

For where we can’t find carbon neutral substitutes we have the following:

  • Buildings leased
  • Software that is not carbon neutral
  • Equipment Purchased
  • Employee Commute
  • Taxis (although we use EV Taxi’s where possible)
= 13.789 tCO2e
Total Carbon 11.354 tCO2e - offset this carbon to become Carbon Neutral
Vs 12.911 tCO2e (Oct ‘24) = 6.8% increase in Carbon emissions

​​Kortical already is a very carbon efficient organisation however with the growth of the business we have higher carbon usage this year. This is all offset as described below.

Carbon Offsetting


To offset the carbon that we cannot avoid using, we have offset 336 tCO2e, which is more than 24 times what we need to offset.

We do this via Carma who plant trees in the UK using veterans who are looking for employment as well as planting abroad.

Carbon Reduction Plan


As the business grows we incur additional carbon however we have anticipated that and as a result are carbon zero already. We will continue to monitor where the carbon in our supply chain is and where there are Carbon Zero alternatives, we will endeavour to switch to them, with a goal of being Carbon Net Zero by 2030.


Declaration and Sign Off


This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors.
